About Shelter Auto Insurance Company

Shelter Insurance was founded in 1946 as a small auto insurance company that provided auto insurance to the people of Missouri.  Today, Shelter is comprised of several companies, including Shelter Mutual Insurance, Shelter General Insurance, Shelter Life Insurance, Shelter Reinsurance, and Shelter Financial Bank.  They have agents in Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. 

In addition to offering auto insurance policies, Shelter also offers homeowner’s insurance, business insurance, farm owner’s insurance, personal liability insurance, boat owner’s insurance, and various types of life insurances.

Shelter Auto Insurance Discounts

Shelter offers a number of discounts to qualified customers.  Two of the more coomon discounts are as follows:

• Good Driver—If you have a clean driving record (no accidents, no tickets, etc.) you may qualify for discounts. 
• Multi-Policy Discount—If you have one or more policies with a particular insurance agency, you may qualify for a discount.
